It is primarily expressed on activated T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, with lower expression levels found on B cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. CD27 plays a significant role in regulating immune responses. Specifically, CD27 interacts with its ligand, CD70 (also known as TNFSF7 or tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 7), participating in intercellular signaling. This interaction is crucial for the proliferation, survival, and differentiation of T cells and NK cells. Furthermore, the CD27-CD70 interaction is also involved in the activation, proliferation, and antibody production of B cells.
